Lololikka/Lovlolika/Scramberry Pickle
Nostalgic
school days where friendship works well with wild berries. God knows the names
are brightly saved. But it turned into pickle form in amma’s adukala after my
BIG B got some saplings of berries from nursery. Now its season around and hard
to pluck safely in the cost of labour. Credit goes to Amma in collecting it and preserving in bharani.
Ingredients:
Lovlolika
– (Preserved in salt water) a bowl
Chili
(Kanthari) – 3-5 nos (optional)
Chili
powder – 2 tbsp
Fenugreek
powder – ½ tsp
Asafoetida
– 1 tsp
Mustard
Seeds – 1 tsp
Red
Chili - 1
Gingelly
oil – 2 tbsp
Salt
– to taste
Method:
Clean
lovlolika in water - Add required salt with kanthari mulaku/ chili and store in a
bharani for few days.. Heat oil in a kadai, splutter mustard seeds, red chilli
and curry leaves. Reduce the flame, add chili powder, asafoetida powder and
fenugreek powder. Add the salt sedimented in bottle/bharani. Switch off the
flame and add salty Lovlolika and mix well. Store in glass bottle or achar
bharani. Perfect match with rice varities.
