Tuna curry /choora karivachathu

Tuna curry /choora karivachathu
Most of the people don’t have a like on tuna but for me tuna ranks top than any other fish. Probably that linked me to Maldives with plenty of tuna varieties, especially the tin tuna and its recipes... umm umm.. J J

Now I am presenting a nadan tuna curry which is popular in our locality with grinded coconut an essential ingredient in our fish curries. Tuna with green chilli, tomato goes well and tuna with drumstick too…

Ingredients:
Tuna – cleaned, 8 -10 pieces
Drum stick – 5 pieces
Green chilli – 2 nos
Tamarind juice – 2 tbsp (as per your taste)
Salt – for taste
Water - required
Coconut oil – 1 tbsp
Curry leaves – a sprig

To grind:
Coconut grated – 1 cup
Shallots – 2-3 nos
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Chilli /Fish Masala powder – 2 tsp
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp

Method:
Grind the items listed under ‘to grind’ – make a paste (not creamy). Mix it to the cleaned tuna, drum stick and green chilli with salt and tamarind juice. Add water to it and cook for 15 minutes in clay pot /meen chutty. Sprinkle coconut oil on top with curry leaves.

Serve with rice. Enjoy!
