Raw
Banana Fry/ Pacha Vazhaka Mizhukk Puratti /Kaya Mizhukku Puratti/ Vazhakka Varuval
MIL
recipe! Astonished in my early kitchen sharing with her. Even though experienced
with simple and easy recipes what I found is her talent in cooking without
breaking the pieces. She prefers more chili powder for the color which turns
spicy. Nendran as well as peyan can be preferred.
First
recipe in onam & wedding sadya. It would be picked with sambar for the 2nd
turn rice in sadya. No garlic and ginger recipe.
Ingredients:
Raw
Banana – 2 nos
Chili
powder – 1 tbsp
Turmeric
powder – ½ tsp
Salt
– for taste
Oil
– for frying
Mustard
– 1 tsp
Red
Chili - 1
Curry
leaves – a sprig
Method:
Peel
the skin of raw bananas and chop in dice shape. Dip in water for few minutes. Drain and add turmeric powder – mix well. Heat
oil in a heavy bottomed pan/ kadai/ non- stick pan. Add mustard seeds – let it
splutter and then curry leaves and red chili. Toss chili and don’t burn it! J
Add
raw banana, chili powder and salt – only on low flame. Close the pan and cook
for a few minutes. Sprinkle water and toss it over. Use only the handle of the
ladle to toss. J
vazha kaya mizhukku puratti/ varuval is ready to serve with plain rice and
sambar or any variety rice.
Note:
·
Don’t add more water.
·
Better use salt water
to sprinkle.
·
Use your ladle or
else it will get mushy.
·
Use coconut oil - the
aroma is great!
